<div>This experimental study presents preliminary investigations of prechamber-enabled mixing-controlled combustion (PC-MCC) at −2 bar brake mean effective pressure (BMEP) and 2200 rpm with fuel-grade ethanol (E98). Experimental results are conducted on a prechamber retrofitted single-cylinder Caterpillar C9.3B test engine. First, series prechamber-only experiments were motored engine to evaluate the salient trends in response relevant operating parameters. Under firing conditions, strategy was assessed respect impact ignition assistance direct-injected E98 overall performance. The indicate jet-induced process is robust prompts diffusion diesel-like boundary conditions. effect external exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) residual tolerance also investigated showed stable both main chamber up 30% EGR. Experiments stock diesel for baseline comparison. At matched phasing, enabled by able achieve heightened gross thermal efficiency while simultaneously reducing NOx practically eliminating smoke emissions relative combustion. In addition, covariance load standard deviation phasing less than 2% 1 CAD, respectively.</div>

The search for substitutes conventional fuels leads to the use of hydrocarbon-free or synthetic fuels. One them is hydrogen. hydrogen in combination with a two-stage charge creation system combustion lean (λ > 1) very 3) charges. simulation tests carried out were aimed at determining best configuration chamber connecting prechamber main chamber. Three variants diameter holes chambers selected (d = 0.5; 1.0 and 1.5 mm) different fuel doses fed prechamber. A passive (qo_PC 0 mg) an active 0.4 1.2 used, while simultaneously sending dose (qo_MC 6 mg). research was conducted using AVL Fire 2022.1 software moving mesh LDV engine. As result work, most favorable conditions carrying process determined, considering thermodynamic effects accepted values nitrogen oxide concentration. resulting correlation maps sizes openings may determine initial selection possibilities controlling TJI system.
