The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the significant infection risks posed by aerosol generating procedures (AGPs). We developed a hood that covers patient’s respiratory area, incorporating negative pressure system to contain aerosols. This study analyzed movement and containment of aerosols within isolation chamber. Using particle image velocimetry (PIV) technology, in optimized design, characteristics were under both non-negative conditions. results demonstrated absence pressure, droplets dispersed widely, with diffusion angles ranging from 26.9° 34.2°, significantly increasing risk external leakage. When was applied, narrowed 20.0–35.1° inward airflow effectively directed away chamber boundary, preventing dispersion. Additionally, sensor data measuring concentrations confirmed smaller than 10 µm fully contained strongly supporting chamber’s effectiveness. strong agreement between PIV flow patterns measurements underscores reliability experimental methodology. These findings highlight ability suppress leakage while offering superior flexibility portability compared conventional systems, making it ideal for emergency responses, mobile healthcare units, large-scale infectious disease outbreaks.
