Euphorbia stracheyi Boiss was used for hemostasis, analgesia, and muscular regeneration in traditional Chinese medicine. To study the chemical constituents of E. stracheyi, ethyl acetate part methanol extract whole plant separated by silica gel, sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, semi-preparative HPLC. The isolation led to characterization a new lathyrane type diterpenoid, euphostrachenol A (1), as well eleven known compounds (2-11), including lathyrane, three ingenane-type two abietane-type diterpenoids, ionones, flavonoids. structures these were established using 1D- 2D-NMR experiments, mass spectrometry, X-ray crystallographic experiments. MTT method determine cytotoxic activity five cancer cell lines (Leukemia HL-60, lung A-549, liver SMMC-7721, breast MCF-7, colon SW480) on isolated compounds. However, only compound 4 showed moderate cytotoxicity against lines, with IC50 values ranging from 10.28 29.70 μM, while others inactive. Our investigation also confirmed absence jatrophane-type diterpenoids species, which may be related its special habitat.

Salvia hispanica L. (Chia), a member of the Lamiaceae, is an economically important crop in Mesoamerica, with health benefits associated its seed fatty acid composition. Chia varieties are distinguished based on color including mixed white and black (Chia pinta) negra). To facilitate research expand comparative analyses within we generated chromosome-scale assembly pinta accession performed genome previously published negra assembly. The sequences were highly similar as shown by limited number single nucleotide polymorphisms extensive shared orthologous gene membership. However, there enrichment terpene synthases relative to genome. We sequenced analyzed genomes 20 accessions differing geographic origin revealing population structure S. interspecific introgressions species. As genus polyphyletic, evolutionary history remains unclear. Using large-scale synteny analysis Lamiaceae group membership, resolved phylogeny This study collective resources further our understanding genomic diversity this food extent interspecies hybridizations Salvia.

Amomi Fructus (Sharen, AF) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) from three source species (or varieties), including Wurfbainia villosa var. (WVV), W. xanthioides (WVX), or longiligularis (WL). Among them, WVV has been transplanted its top-geoherb region, Guangdong, to current main production area, Yunnan, for >50 years in China. However, the genetic and transcriptomic differentiation among multiple AF varieties) between origin populations of unknown. In our study, observed overall higher expression terpenoid biosynthesis genes than WVX provided possible evidence better pharmacological effect WVV. We also screened six candidate borneol dehydrogenases (BDHs) that potentially catalyzed into camphor functionally verified them. Highly expressed at P2 stage WVV, Wv05G1424 Wv05G1438, were capable catalyzing formation (+)-borneol, (-)-borneol DL-isoborneol. Moreover, BDH may experience independent evolution after acquiring ancestral copies, following tandem duplications might account abundant content Furthermore, four WVX, WL are genetically differentiated, gene flow Yunnan contributed greater diversity introduced population (WVV-JH) region (WVV-YC), which showed lowest undergo degradation. addition, terpene synthesis (TPS) selected top- non-top-geoherb regions, explain difference metabolites these populations. Our findings provide important guidance conservation, improvement, industrial development identifying top-geoherbalism with molecular markers, proper clinical application AF.

Chia ( Salvia hispanica L. ) is one of the most popular nutrition-rich foods and pseudocereal crops family Lamiaceae. seeds are a rich source proteins, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), dietary fibers, antioxidants. In this study, we present assembly chia reference genome, which spans 303.6 Mb encodes 48,090 annotated protein-coding genes. Our analysis revealed that ~42% genome harbors repetitive content, identified ~3 million single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) 15,380 simple sequence repeat (SSR) marker sites. By investigating transcriptome, discovered ~44% genes undergo alternative splicing with higher frequency intron retention events. Additionally, associated important nutrient content quality traits, such as biosynthesis PUFAs seed mucilage fiber (dietary fiber) polysaccharides. Notably, first report in-silico annotation plant for protein-derived small bioactive peptides (biopeptides) improving human health. To facilitate further research translational applications valuable orphan crop, have developed genomics database (SalviaGDB), accessible at https://salviagdb.org .
