The persistent nature of the herbicide atrazine in environment and its possible negative impacts on ecosystems human health has sparked growing concerns. diverse effects are explored this review, which also discusses environmental fate, toxicity mechanisms, toxicological aquatic ecosystems, soil, plants, humans, animals. This review several physicochemical techniques for treatment, including adsorption activated carbon biochar, as well chemical like Fenton, ozone oxidation, sulfate radical photocatalytic methods. Biodegradation is then analyzed, together with atrazine-degrading microorganisms, such bacteria, fungi, other microbes, genetically modified microorganisms. Knowledge molecular biology microbial metabolic pathways bacteria provides a deeper comprehension degradation process. paper looks at key factors that affect emphasises circular economy strategy life cycle analysis effective options long-term management. concludes by outlining future prospects field, aiming to address challenges posed pave way environmentally friendly alternatives remediation techniques.

Atrazine (ATZ), a widely used herbicide with potent endocrine-disrupting properties, has been implicated in hormonal disturbances and fertility issues. Sertoli cells (SCs) play crucial role providing mechanical nutritional support of spermatogenesis. Herein, we aimed to study the effects environmentally relevant ATZ concentrations on spermatogenesis provided by SCs. For that, mouse SCs (TM4) were exposed increasing (in μg/L: 0.3, 3, 30, 300, or 3000). After 24 h, cellular proliferation metabolic activity assessed. Mitochondrial endogenous reactive oxygen species (ROS) production evaluated using JC-1 CM-H

The use of pesticides in agriculture can leave residues the treated crops. Pesticides are also potential contaminants ground and surface water, as reported many countries. development efficient analytical methods to quantify water samples is a challenge due low levels present. objective this work was develop validate method for pesticide analysis using sample lyophilization followed by UHPLC–MS/MS determine from Brazilian hydrographic basin. In total, 77 compounds were included, which 28 considered only qualitatively. applied analyze 142 collected during dry rainy seasons 2021–2022, 90 52 groundwater samples. 19 detected (≥LOD), mainly atrazine (72.5%), atrazine-2-hydroxy (50%), fipronil (18.3%), pirimiphos-methyl (15.5%). Most (17) season regardless environmental compartment. Twenty-five had quantified (≥LOQ), 80% season, 58.3% (up 1.045 µg L−1 2,4-D an artesian well). highest concentrations found (0.171 0.179 L−1), that represent risk aquatic organisms (risk quotient 1.1). This provides determining be other pollutants. Although complied with legislation, constant monitoring should conducted region guarantee safe water.

Extensive utilization of pesticides and herbicides to boost agricultural production increased the environmental health risks, which can be mitigate with aid highly sensitive detection systems. In this study, an electrochemical sensor for monitoring carcinogenic in samples has been developed based on sulfur-doped graphitic-carbon nitride–gold nanoparticles (SCN-AuNPs) nanohybrid. Thermal polycondensation melamine thiourea followed by solvent exfoliation via ultrasonication leads SCN formation electroless deposition AuNPs SCN-AuNPs nanohybrid synthesis.
