Atrazine (ATZ), a widely used herbicide with potent endocrine-disrupting properties, has been implicated in hormonal disturbances and fertility issues. Sertoli cells (SCs) play crucial role providing mechanical nutritional support of spermatogenesis. Herein, we aimed to study the effects environmentally relevant ATZ concentrations on spermatogenesis provided by SCs. For that, mouse SCs (TM4) were exposed increasing (in μg/L: 0.3, 3, 30, 300, or 3000). After 24 h, cellular proliferation metabolic activity assessed. Mitochondrial endogenous reactive oxygen species (ROS) production evaluated using JC-1 CM-H

The use of pesticides in agriculture can leave residues the treated crops. Pesticides are also potential contaminants ground and surface water, as reported many countries. development efficient analytical methods to quantify water samples is a challenge due low levels present. objective this work was develop validate method for pesticide analysis using sample lyophilization followed by UHPLC–MS/MS determine from Brazilian hydrographic basin. In total, 77 compounds were included, which 28 considered only qualitatively. applied analyze 142 collected during dry rainy seasons 2021–2022, 90 52 groundwater samples. 19 detected (≥LOD), mainly atrazine (72.5%), atrazine-2-hydroxy (50%), fipronil (18.3%), pirimiphos-methyl (15.5%). Most (17) season regardless environmental compartment. Twenty-five had quantified (≥LOQ), 80% season, 58.3% (up 1.045 µg L−1 2,4-D an artesian well). highest concentrations found (0.171 0.179 L−1), that represent risk aquatic organisms (risk quotient 1.1). Published: April 30, 2025

Abstract Atrazine is a widely used chlorine herbicide, but recent studies raised concerns about its environmental and human health risks. Graphene family nanomaterials (GFNs) have various applications are often released into aquatic environments, impacting marine microflora. However, the combined effects of atrazine GFNs on organisms like Chlorellasp. not been thoroughly assessed. The physicochemical interactions between were examined using Raman spectroscopy, electron microscopy, contact angle measurements, surface charge analyses, chromatography. analysis revealed decline with increasing concentration, indicating enhanced hydrophilicity mixture. Key toxicity parameters, including growth inhibition, total reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, malondialdehyde (MDA) generation, photosynthetic efficiency, antioxidant enzyme activity, assessed for individual contaminants their binary mixtures. ROS activity exhibited most significant modulation in response to concentration. Low levels exacerbated by elevating oxidative stress markers (ROS MDA) mixtures GFNs, whereas higher concentrations mitigated these reducing MDA generation compared exposures. study also uses statistical tools evaluate interconnection biochemical parameters treatment groups. results clearly show how can reduce harmful ecosystems. provide adsorption molecules, thereby availability algal cells toxic potential. This deepens our understanding mitigating risk emerging pollutants atrazine.
