The backfill binder material is the key to cost and performance of cemented paste backfill. This study aims understand current situation metal ore binders, identify industry challenges, inspire research ideas, explore development directions. Current investigates trends developments binders through literature review, experience summary, field research, statistical analysis, other methods. Firstly, main types are summarized, including cement, metallurgical slag, thermal chemical tailings binders. Secondly, progress regarding reactivity activation, hydration mechanism, harmful ion solidification, energy conservation, carbon reduction summarized. Thirdly, three industrial applications new introduced Cement still most common, followed by slag powder binder. cases steel semi-hydrated phosphogypsum have shown significant effects. Solid waste-based materials gradually replacing which a trend. Finally, further discussed, modeling simulation, properties under extreme environments, hardening process control, technical standards for work provides reference basis promoting green efficient sustainable development.
