Forest development forms the foundation for advancement of sustainable forest management that integrates knowledge natural and anthropogenic processes with ecological biological insights. This study aims to emphasize role assisted regeneration balanced phases in fostering closer-to-nature approaches, contributing resilient ecosystems capable self-regulation biodiversity support face climatic challenges. focuses on Lithuania based five National Inventories (NFIs) from 2002 2022. We examine tree volume structure growing stock by stand type series point view age phases. is performed applying standardized methodologies Lithuanian Inventory. Our analysis broader patterns derived selected NFI data rather than stand-level details. findings demonstrate long-term observation dynamic can aid methods different series. In order implement European Union’s strategy policy management, we call use “assisted succession” commercial forests, promoting formation mixed-species stands multi-cohort profiles, including old-growth all-aged patches >121 years.
