2-((1H-Benzo[d]imdazole-2yl) thio)1(4-chlorophenyl) ethan-1-one modified chitosan (BIMC) was applied as an effective inhibitor for the corrosion of C-steel in 1.0 M HCl solution. Various techniques such gravimetry, H2 evolution, electrochemical potentiodynamic, PD, and impedance spectroscopy were included. The data indicated that rate metal dissolution is lowered with more additions BIMC compound increased temperature. EIS measurements proved presence acidic media reduces values double layer capacitance, Cdl, raises charge transfer resistance, Rct explaining formation passive through adsorption process. PD conducted a mixed-kind inhibitor. protection efficacy, η %, reduced % takes higher to reach 93% at 5 mg/L, 25 °C. process controlled by molecules on metallic surface obeying Langmuir's pattern. computed ΔGads° found depend temperature varied between −31.42 −34.62 kJ/mol. Such conclusion could be attributed mixed mechanism. Kads confirm stability lowering T can related desorption some from electrode surface. Theoretical quantum computation confirmed concurrence obtained practical techniques.
