Abstract Existing studies mostly discussed the impact of transportation infrastructure on economy and society. However, environmental performance digital has been less. This study explores effect construction green economic transformation based theoretical analysis. Using Broadband China policy as a quasi-natural experiment, authors construct staggered difference-in-difference (DID) model empirically assess development with panel data Chinese 271 cities from 2003 to 2019. First, main results indicate that can enable in cities. The remain robust after considering heterogeneous treatment effects, placebo test, excluding other policies. Second, heterogeneity eastern economically developed benefits more construction. Finally, by enhancing energy efficiency, fostering industrialization, stimulating technology innovation, indirectly contributes urban development. put forward some constructive suggestions promote perspective.
