Purpose This study aims to investigate the impact of digital operational risk (DOR) and information (DIR) on performance (OP) South Korean small medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) engaged in cold chain systems (CCS) era transformation. Specifically, it examines mediating role conservative market entry strategy (CES) demand forecasting-based product management (DPM) these relationships. Design/methodology/approach A structured questionnaire was developed based prior literature distributed SMEs utilizing CCS Korea. The collected data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. Findings results indicate that DOR positively influences CES, while DIR DPM. Both CES DPM have a positive OP. Furthermore, mediates relationship between OP, Additionally, indirectly OP through Research limitations/implications focuses Korea, limiting generalizability findings. Future research should expand scope other countries industries. reliance survey may introduce self-report bias, future studies could incorporate objective data. Practical implications findings provide insights for develop tailored strategies their specific profiles. It emphasizes importance strategic investments communication technology mitigate risks enhance Social By enhancing capabilities CCS, this can contribute overall efficiency resilience low-temperature supply chain, ensuring safety quality perishable goods consumers. Originality/value contributes by examining distinct roles influencing choices context also highlights DPM, providing more nuanced understanding CCS.
