In the past decade, researchers have carried out a massive amount of research on application biochar for contaminants removal from aqueous solutions. As an emerging sorbent with great potential, has shown significant advantages such as broad sources feedstocks, easy preparation process, and favorable surface structural properties. This review provides overview recent advances in water wastewater treatment, including brief discussion involved sorption mechanisms removal, well modification methods. Furthermore, environmental concerns that need to be paid attention future directions are put forward promote further practical treatment.
