Seawater desalination has become a vital technology to address water demand in many coastal countries, its safe and efficient operation crucial concern. Desalination facilities are susceptible the quality of feed water, which is affected by several variables, such as raw seawater quality, intake methods, onshore pretreatment technologies. Oil gas continue be major commodities that produced transported globally. There high risk oil spills. Historically, severe plant shutdowns have happened because Current spill response measures were developed mitigate impact spills on maritime environment rather than prevent shutdown. The drinking storage for countries Gulf region last only few days, underscores importance use all available technologies remove contaminants rapidly effectively from during avoid exhausting limited stock. This article comprehensively reviewed applicability limitation various oil-removing three aspects: offshore cleanup, intake, pretreatment. An integrated solution based aspects required robustly safeguard shutdown event

This study deals with removing crude oil droplets from colloidal in water emulsions. The target was the development of efficient adsorbents for tertiary treatment industrial-produced (PW). novel adsorbent designed recycled low-density polyethylene (LDPE) powder grafted by cationic polymer. polymer synthesized directly on LDPE surface plasma-induced radical polymerization. A positively charged chosen due to negative character oily enhance separation efficiency treating oil-water performed both batch and filtration modes. Absorption/adsorption uptake capacities showed a sigmoidal S-shape that analyzed using Sips model compared newly developed empirical model. Both models remarkable coincidence description experimental data. also tested mode mimicking commonly used deep-bed technology. comparison various sorbents indicated supreme performance adsorbent. demonstrates potential relatively cheap, prepared commodity-based purification emulsified polluted configurations. contributes recycling waste because attracts meager interest LLDPE many obstacles reusing its reprocessing as packaging materials.

We report the synthesis of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-α-Fe2O3 nanocomposite and its application to remove recover dissolved oil from a high-salinity oil–water emulsion in batch column/breakthrough setups. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen adsorption characterized synthesized nanocomposite’s structure, morphology, surface properties. Both continuous breakthrough studies were investigated. The effect parameters on capacity removal efficiency was analyzed. rGO-Fe2O3 (rGO-Fe2O3-NC) demonstrated superior capacity, both when measured experimentally (1213 mg/g) predicted using Freundlich isotherm (1301 mg/g). process followed pseudo-second-order kinetic, rGO-Fe2O3-NC exhibited very rapid removal, with more than 60% being removed within 10 min. Breakthrough confirmed exceptional capacities good regeneration cycling ability under short contact time. Moreover, enhanced an salinity up 100,000 ppm, confirming suitability for wastewater.

Response surface methodology (RSM) and Box–Behnken (BB) statistical experiment design were developed to study the optimization of oily wastewater treatment using Sargassum latifolium. The characterization latifolium was studied fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), N2 adsorption/ desorption, Raman techniques. These studies demonstrated importance various functional groups such as carbonyl, amino, carboxyl, hydroxyl on adsorption mechanism. specific area S. 111.65m2/ g. Scanning (SEM) showed that interaction with oil led development flake-like deposits its surface, causing become uneven. Four process-independent parameters, including contact time, volume, adsorbent dosage, pH optimized for best response crude design. output summarized an additional ANOVA analysis. Optimization conditions onto Latifolium found be at dose 0.13g, volume 24.29ml, time 57.44 minutes, initial 9.54. Langmuir Freundlich isotherm models used apply equilibrium results suggest model better fits experimental data compared model. capacity 45.87gm under ideal conditions, which somewhat lower than RSM model's value 46.14gm.
