Microplastics have become ubiquitous on the planet and are considered one of biggest threats to life earth. Several recent studies addressed serious risks that microplastics can pose human health. In this study, microplastic content spatial variations in number, size, colour, polymers from a highly urbanized cosmopolitan, urban, rural coastal locations northwest Indian coast were documented using yellow clams. The mean incidence across all stations among clams is found be highest ever reported worldwide, which 35.93 MPs items/g soft tissue parts 91.42 items/individual. higher diversity integrated index (MDII) Microplastic (MPI). majority observed fibres fragments, belonged size range 1–100 µm (51.36%), identified as HDPE, polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, polyvinyl chloride, polyamide, polypropylene. clam condition (CI) was recorded high at with lower population lowest megacity having greater may indicate negative effect growth.

After exposure alone or in combination with other pollutants, may experience variety health issues. can cause tissue damage, oxidative stress, changes immune-related gene expression well antioxidant status fish. being exposed MPs, suffer from neurotoxicity, growth retardation, behavioral abnormalities. The consequences poorly understood. Due the abundance environment, occur via consumption, inhalation, skin contact. Humans cytotoxicity, immune system disruption, transfer tissues after them. toxic both still unknown. This detailed review has potential add existing knowledge about ecotoxicity humans, will be useful forthcoming study.

Dietary pollution by polystyrene microplastics (MPs) can cause hepatic injuries and microbial dysbiosis. Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), the major polyphenol in green tea, exerts beneficial effects on liver modulating gut microbiota. However, role of microbiota MPs-induced protective effect EGCG have not been clarified. Here, 5 μm MPs were orally administered to mice induce injuries. Subsequently, antibiotic cocktail (ABX) fecal transplant (FMT) experiments performed investigate underlying mechanisms. Additionally, was explore its protection against Our results showed that activated systemic inflammation, promoted fibrosis, altered metabolome; meanwhile, damaged homeostasis disturbing microbiome, promoting colonic impairing intestinal barrier. Notably, reduced abundance probiotics Akkermansia, Mucispirillum, Faecalibaculum while increasing pathogenic Tuzzerella. Interestingly, elimination mitigated inflammation barrier impairment. Moreover, ABX ameliorated but fibrosis. Correspondingly, from MPs-administered induced colonic, systemic, their profibrosis observed. Finally, elevated effectively repressed inflammation. remodeling metabolome also attenuated EGCG. These findings illustrated contributed injuries, could serve as a potential prevention strategy for these adverse consequences.

Abstract The aquaculture industry requires good water quality for its successful operation but produces wastes that can cause environmental deterioration and pose high risks to the sector. Adequate waste treatment recycling are necessary make a sustainable profitable contribute circular economy. Polluted sources, excess feeding, overstocking, use of antibiotics/chemicals harmful algal blooms major causes low production in systems. Discharges untreated would have serious impacts on receiving bodies, eventually itself. Possible solutions include technological innovations environmentally friendly systems, efficient processes management improved legislation governance. Environmentally feasible technologies such as system, integrated multi-trophic aquaponics including features viable options schemes. Best practices integrating advanced technologies, supported by automation sensors, modeling artificial intelligence-internet things environment, stable value chain. In general, low-cost impact reduction through governance crucial achieving sustainability natural management.

Enrofloxacin (ENR) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic widely used due to its efficacy against pathogens. Microplastics (MPs) may bind ENR and reduce efficiency, whereas there would be an increase in toxicity, bioavailability, bio-accumulation rates. Therefore, the hypothesis that interaction between MPs can alter their toxicity bioavailability. The subjective of this study examine various concentrations (0, 1.35, 2.7 ml Kg-1 diet) 1000, 2000 mg alone combination for 21 days. rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) economic aquaculture species as experimental model ecotoxicology studies. Blood biochemical analytes indicated led increasing enzymatic activity each biomarker, except gamma-glutamyl-transferase (GGT). Alterations related triglycerides, cholesterol, glucose, urea, creatinine, total protein, albumin blood contents were observed. An elevation levels superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) was found liver. In contrast, catalase (CAT) glutathione peroxidase (GPx) decreased. Furthermore, decline observed cellular antioxidant (ANT) levels. These findings suggested could affect fish health both independently together. Consequently, determined when present high concentrations, amplified, providing further evidence synergistic impact on toxicity.
