Improving water quality is imperative for many sea bays, including Laizhou Bay, China, to achieve sustainable marine development. In 2010, two 17.3 km long sand-retaining embankments were built in southwestern which weakened the nearshore hydrodynamics and seriously impacted quality. To mitigate this issue, study proposes connecting rivers on both sides of improve thus exchange bay. The effectiveness was examined with a numerical model using Mike 21, validated tidal current velocity direction at six monitoring locations results show that over 53% core research area displays an increase (0.0–0.4 m/s) speed after connection, primarily around Haihengwei Fishing Port. Meanwhile, Eulerian residual currents Port, Mi River estuary Bailang become substantially larger (with maximum 0.16 m/s). addition, net transport distance particles released near connection increases by up 39.89 one month. Abstract Anthropogenic activities and their influences on aquatic systems is an important topic, especially considering the growing interest in using earth's resources a sustainable way. One of those anthropogenic introduction renewable technologies into environment such as instream turbines. Environmental studies around are often still ongoing due to novelty. During spring 2018, juvenile individuals two salmonid species, Atlantic salmon brown trout were released upstream vertical axis turbine river Dal (Dalälven) eastern Sweden. The aim this study was investigate swimming behavior salmonids small‐scale prototype turbine. pattern possible response avoiding documented with multi beam sonar. A control area, next turbine, used reference. No consistent results shown for they passing area statistically high variation, specimens rarely observed proximity neither if operating nor at stand still. Salmon clearly avoided but did not avoid when it still, straight through area. These findings indicate that type affects unlikely affect its migration paths. For trout, statistical inconclusive, although data species little risk suffer physical harm no fish entered rotating despite very turbid water conditions.

Intertidal artificial habitats are proliferating, but generally simpler in structure and host lower biodiversity than natural rocky reefs. Eco-engineering aims to enhance the of coastal infrastructure, often through physical structural modifications that mimic topographic properties shores. Relationships between biotic assemblages reefs have been extensively studied at sampling scales up 1 m2. But evidence quantified local variation has an appreciable influence on assemblages, a shore-wide scale across regional environmental gradients, is lacking. Here we addressed this knowledge gap with observational study 32 intertidal reef sites Wales, UK. We used multivariate community analysis permutation tests examine associations structure, variables sessile assemblages. A potential habitat assemblage composition was evident regional-scale gradients. Compared sites, had taxonomic richness, distinct more variable composition, different structure. After removing effect (natural or artificial), canonical correspondence showed (wave exposure, sea surface temperature salinity variation), along two metrics (standard deviation log-transformed detrended roughness skewness verticality, both 0.5 m scale), explained 40 % among sites. The independently 14.5 variation. Associations identified individual taxa indicated higher proportion horizontal surfaces hosted canopy macroalgae, which turn support other algae invertebrates. Our findings provide inform scaling-up eco-engineering interventions from experimental contexts infrastructure extents.

Marine reef ecosystems have degraded massively worldwide, and restoration efforts as yet not managed to realize the scale required reverse continued degradation. To achieve effective scales, scientific insights in methods should be paired with industry-based approaches used for infrastructural development. We illustrate by five principles how long-standing experience of marine contractors executing large-scale projects, can support restoration: i) utilizing industrial techniques positive impact at scale, ii) landscaping infrastructure optimize habitat targeted species, iii) inducing life overcome connectivity bottle-necks steer community composition, iv) designing nature development self-sustainable, v) ensuring continuity beyond project boundaries early stakeholder engagement. This research applied theory planned behaviour, adding environmental knowledge (ENK) as construct in addition its fundamental variables. primary data acquired using field survey method from cross‐sectional sample 207 Indian bank customers. Covariance‐based structural equation modelling technique employed model. findings demonstrated that one's attitude towards services is significantly influenced by ENK. No evidence significant mediation function found, which would have provided empirical support indirect relationship between ENK purchase intentions. also confirmed purchasing had impact on actual behaviour. In particular, female customers showed higher levels effects consumer perceived efficacy control over availability buy imply managers should employ sensible combination old modern communication channels emphasize value pollution‐free environment public.
