Abstract Recently, there has been a greater focus on the relationship between entrepreneurship and digital economy in academia practice. However, no known work systematically reviews analyses such connection, which highlights need to address this gap by conducting thorough systematic literature review employing bibliometric scientometric concerning research. In doing so, analysis of key trends as well knowledge structure (i.e., intellectual conceptual) employed analyze, visualize, map 275 documents gathered from Web Science (WoS) Scopus data sets. The number publications current research field expanded dramatically due substantial efforts major contributors (e.g., researchers, institutions, nations, academic journals) worldwide. Today, more and enterprises are achieving co-innovation across borders by joining digital platforms. However, many SMEs face difficulties in developing benefiting from strong platform capability (DPC) due to limited experience, resources, funds, which hinders innovation opportunities. This study constructs a model explore how can enhance their performance (IP) adopting platforms based on resource orchestration theory. We then introduce ecological institutional norms (EIN) as the moderating variable observe whether effective governance impacts enterprises' value co–creation (VCC) IP. conduct questionnaire survey 346 China's manufacturing industry that participate platforms, regression analysis bootstrap test results indicate (1) DPC has significantly positive impact IP; (2) VCC; (3) VCC partially mediates (4) EIN positively moderate relationship between mediating effect of VCC. These findings add literature theoretically fill gap research participation development perspective SMEs. Finally, important managerial implications for cultivate DPC, carry out VCC, governance.
