Abstract A series of seven stable amide derivatives based on indole‐3‐carboxaldehyde were synthesized with high yields using various aliphatic and aromatic acyl chlorides, triethylamine DMAP as the catalyst at room temperature. Structural characterization was performed FT‐IR, 1 H‐NMR, 13 C‐NMR LC–MS techniques. To develop bioactive material, acetalization water‐soluble polyvinyl alcohol achieved by reacting one N‐acyl derivatives, 1‐propionylindole‐3‐carboxaldehyde, in presence a p‐TSA to form acetal pendant groups. The polymer analyzed TGA, DSC, FE‐SEM EDX spectroscopic water‐insoluble enhanced thermal stability compared pure alcohol. This approach for developing then monomers improve its properties humid conditions has proven successful.
