Propolis is a lipophilic sticky substance collected by bees that has been used humans for centuries. Owing to its healing, antioxidant, and other medicinal properties, chemical composition widely studied. Most pharmacological properties of propolis have attributed phenols terpenes, mainly flavonoids, phenolic acids, their derivatives. More than 500 components were known from different parts the world until 2012. In this article, 305 new constituents described between 2013 2018 are being reviewed, with 19 additional compounds discovered 2011 2012, excluded similar previous review article. Altogether more 850 isolated 2018.

Propolis is a well known antimicrobial with phenolic compounds and flavonoid content which vary according the propolis origin. Besides (from both Brazilian UK sources), pomegranate, dragon's blood sage possible antimicrobials be biomaterials. The goal of this work was analyze amount phenols these natural products, their antioxidant activities bonds present by FTIR. FTIR analysis revealed presence active all drug samples. quantification showed that rich compared other drugs, followed pomegranate propolis. most flavonoids, expected on account its Pomegranate, Dragon's presented highest activity. Abstract Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are highlighted due to their low toxicity, compatibility with the human body, high surface area volume ratio, and surfaces that can be easily modified ligands. Biosynthesis of AuNPs using plant extract is considered a simple, low-cost, eco-friendly approach. Brazilian Red Propolis (BRP), product bees, exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antioxidant, antimicrobial activities. Here, we described biosynthesis BRP (AuNP ) its fractions hexane , AuNP dichloromethane ethyl acetate evaluated structural properties potential against microorganisms cancer cells. showed plasmon resonance (SPR) band at 535 nm. Propolis is a natural product with many demonstrated biological activities and propolis extract has been used in the food, pharmaceutical cosmetics industries. Different works have showed variations chemical composition, consequently, on activity of that are associated its type geographic origin. Due to this study evaluated extracts obtained through supercritical extraction ethanolic (conventional) three samples different types (red, green brown), collected from regions Brazil (state Bahia). Analyses were performed determine humidity, water activity, content total ash, proteins, lipids fiber raw samples. The phenolic compounds, flavonoids, vitro antioxidant (DPPH), catechin, ferulic acid luteolin antimicrobial against two bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli) determined for all extracts. For red anti-leishmanicidal potential was also evaluated. physicochemical profiles agreement relation literature. results identified significant differences among (p>0.05), which conformity their method, as well botanical origin fluid not efficient obtain highest contents antioxidants when compared best shown conventional method (ethanolic) indicating higher selectivity compounds. variety largest potential, included found confirm influence material composition characteristics parameters analysis important characterize evaluate quality Brazilian based increased use by products industry.

An ultrasound assisted method was investigated to extract bioactive compounds from propolis. This based on a simple treatment using ethanol as an extraction medium facilitate the disruption of propolis cells. Four different variables were chosen for determining influence efficiency: ultrasonic amplitude, concentration, temperature and time; selected by Box-Behnken design experiments. These parameters optimised in order obtain highest yield, results exhibited optimum conditions achieving goal 100% amplitude treatment, 70% solvent 58 °C 30 min. The yield under modified was, follows: 459.92 mg GAE/g TPC, 220.62 QE/g TFC 1.95% balsam content. showed that suitable most abundant phenolic compound kaempferol (228.8 mg/g propolis) followed myricetin (115.5 propolis), luteolin (27.2 quercetin (25.2 propolis).

The present study aimed to determine the chemical profile, antioxidant activity and origin two samples propolis type from locations state Rio Grande do Norte (RN, north-east Brazil). The standard characteristics RN are similar or superior internationally marketed Brazilian green propolis. have high activity, corresponding 10% (municipality Afonso Bezerra) 13% Alto Rodrigues) quercetin by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl method 15% (both locations) β-carotene discoloration method. High-performance liquid chromatography diode array detection (HPLC-DAD)-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry analyses revealed that most constituents flavonoids, mainly flavonols chalcones. HPLC-DAD analysis ethanol extracts great similarity between profile shoot apices 'jurema-preta' (Mimosa tenuiflora, Leguminosae, Mimosoideae).'Jurema-preta' likely resin sources property provide promising prospects for introduction this into apicultural market. © 2017 Society Chemical Industry.
