Abstract: Background: The relationship between coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and periodontitis has been interesting. Understanding this connection is crucial for comprehensive patient care highlights the importance of monitoring addressing oral health issues in an individual’s post-COVID-19 recovery. This study compared evaluated serum Galectin-3 (Gal-3) levels clinical parameters healthy individuals with chronic no history COVID-19 patients periodontitis. Materials Methods: Group I consists 25 Stage II Grade B periodontitis, without any (Group II), controls III) were recruited study. Gal-3 assessed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit. Clinical periodontal variables measured recorded, including attachment level (CAL), plaque index (PI), probing pocket depth (PPD). Background The diagnosis of periodontitis is primarily through clinical and radiographic assessments. However, it difficult for clinicians to detect incipient during the routine assessment. Identifying people at risk tracking disease development need a dependable biomarker. Currently, no biomarkers meet all criteria required an ideal diagnostic test. Therefore, utility salivary periostin as potential screening tool warrants further investigation, particularly large samples across diverse populations. present study aimed investigate levels biomarker in individuals with healthy controls. Methods Forty-five patients generalized stage III grade A/B equivalent number periodontally controls were evaluated plaque index (PI), gingival (GI), pocket probing depth (PPD), attachment level (CAL). Periodontitis involves the inflammation of periodontal tissue, leading to tissue loss, while coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly transmissible respiratory caused by severe acute syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which amplified poor systemic health.
