Abstract Echolocation and flight are two key behavioral innovations that contribute to the evolutionary success diversification of bats, which classified phylogenetically into suborders: Yinpterochiroptera Yangochiroptera. Considerable research has identified a coupling between call production wingbeat in flying although only few have quantified relationship all were restricted bats from suborder Here, we quantitatively compared representative species Hipposideros pratti Myotis pilosus Yangochiroptera, under identical experimental settings. We found (1) both exhibited temporal wingbeat; (2) degree is species‐specific, with M. showing tighter timing cycle than H. ; (3) plastic trait, as evidenced by effect environmental clutter (4) there no evidence limits source level control either species. suggest flexible may not compromise precise echolocation bats.
