Abstract A new quinoline‐based COF (covalent organic framework), obtained by Povarov reaction, containing 2,6‐diisopropylphenyl moieties as substituents over the heterocyclic ring is described for detecting Zn 2+ in aqueous solution. The introduction of mentioned bulky phenyl rings into network favors an increase distance between reticular sheets and their arrangement, obtaining a material with alternating AB type stacking. exhibits good selectivity to detect fluorescence emission solutions up concentration 1.2 × 10 −4 m metal ion. In order have deeper insight interaction zinc cation, thorough spectroscopical, microscopical, theoretical study also presented discussed this communication.
