This study assessed knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to food hygiene among mothers from Malawi’s rural communities against the WHO Five Keys Safer Food (WHO-FKSF) good pre-and post-harvest (GPPHPs) as reference points. hundred twenty-two six across two districts were selected for survey. The results indicated limited knowledge participating regarding managing hazards, including mycotoxins, bacteria, viruses, parasites (BVPs). A significant proportion (89.5%) of women reported inconsistent or no handwashing with soap after using toilet. In addition, 48.7% failed plant first rains, 38.7% neglected check moldy cobs during harvesting, 57.4% dried maize on bare soil, 99.2% bought noticeable mold. Higher education, positive attitudes associated enhanced BVP control practices, while larger households linked improved mold/mycotoxin management (p < 0.05). Mothers showed lower 0.05) attitude levels molds than BVPs but demonstrated relatively better mold control. comprehensive education program based Foods, tailored local socio-cultural norms incorporating mycotoxin guidelines, is recommended.

Food contamination is a critical global health issue, with the WHO estimating millions of deaths and Disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) lost annually due to foodborne diseases, particularly in developing countries. To address this, introduced Five Keys Safer (WHO-FKSF) promote essential food safety practices. We analyzed limitations WHO-FKSF for use explore contextually relevant adaptations, such as community engagement, infrastructure improvements, innovations like durable, child-resistant tippy taps (simple, low-cost handwashing devices that dispense water when tipped) handwashing, required make applicable rural portions Addressing cultural norms involving men water-related tasks can further align practices everyday realities. recommend providing specific rationale each actionable step, beyond general reasoning provided five keys themselves. This additional information will improve comprehension adherence also revising Key 4, “Keep at safe temperatures,” “Store safely” better accommodate lack refrigeration preservation methods. ABSTRACT Food safety is a critical public health concern for preventing foodborne illnesses and ensuring consumer protection. hazards may present throughout the food supply chain, from farm to fork, posing significant risks. This comprehensive review explored prevalent in Bangladesh highlighted smart sensor technologies hazard detection. By reviewing recent literature on Bangladeshi web, this study discusses potential consequences of these their detection methods. Finally, evaluation existing challenges sensor‐based techniques are provided. Bacterial pathogens, agrochemical residues, toxic preservatives, adulteration highly chain. The key country lack awareness, unhygienic practices handling preparation, multiplicity laws coordination among regulatory authorities, bureaucratic complexities, inadequate infrastructure skilled human resources. Smart offers promising solution limitations conventional determination techniques, providing rapid accurate results with low cost, portability, ease operation, thereby significantly enhancing country’s scenario. help policymakers, academicians better understand chain develop more effective strategies mitigating risks, safety, health.

ABSTRACT Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have emerged as promising nanomaterials due to their unique optical properties, excellent biocompatibility, and cost‐effectiveness. This review highlights recent advances in CQD‐based composite materials applications fluorescence detection, particularly food safety. Combining CQDs with diverse enhances performance, stability, selectivity, enabling the sensitive detection of various contaminants. CQD composites offer significant improvements over conventional methods, including lower limits, faster response times, broader applicability. Key areas focus include pesticide residues, veterinary drug heavy metal ions, pathogenic bacteria complex matrices. Advanced doping hybridization strategies, such heteroatom incorporation, further optimize chemical properties. These innovations address critical challenges safety monitoring, paving way for more effective accessible technologies. Future developments are expected expand applications, ensuring enhanced quality public health protection.
