A chimeric protein, in which a cationic antimicrobial peptide was fused to the adhesive self-assembling moiety of fungal class I hydrophobin, produced and used easily functionalize gold nanoparticles (f-AuNPs). f-AuNPs are able bind Escherichia coli Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria, tested as model organisms. reverse colorimetric assay then set up based on induced aggregation free f-AuNPs.
