The
COVID-19
pandemic
of
2020–2022
has
revealed
the
vulnerability
modern
society
to
a
highly
contagious
airborne
virus.
Many
spaces
in
urban
and
built
environment
designed
during
late
twentieth
early
twenty-first
century
are
ill-suited
maintain
level
social
distancing
required
reduce
probability

transmission.
Enclosed
spaces—in
particular,
communal
circulation
such
as
corridors,
elevators
lobbies—have
proven

Wastewater-based
epidemiology
(WBE)
is
emerging

potential
approach

study

dynamics
of
SARS-CoV-2

Abstract
Since
infected

surveillance
(ES)
may
serve
as
an
early
warning
system
(EWS)
for
COVID-19
and
new
variants
of
concern.
The
ES
has
been
widely
reviewed;
however,
its
effectiveness
EWS

timeliness,
sensitivity

systematically
assessed.

conducted
a
systematic
review
to
identify
synthesise
evidence
on
the

Introduction
Wastewater
surveillance
has
proven
to
be
a
valuable
approach
monitoring
the
spread
of
SARS-CoV-2,
virus
that
causes
Coronavirus
disease
2019
(COVID-19).
Recognizing
benefits
wastewater
as
tool
support
public
health
in
tracking
SARS-CoV-2
and
other
respiratory
pathogens,
numerous
sampling
concentration
methods
have
been
tested
for
appropriate
applications
well
their
significance
actionability
by
practices.
Methods
Here,
we
present
34-week
long
study
covers
nearly
4
million
residents
Detroit
(MI,
United
States)
metropolitan
area.
Three
primary

compared

glycol
precipitation
