Rural settlements serve as the fundamental spatial unit in rural geography research and play a significant role regional system on human‒land relations. With accelerated advances urbanization, industrialization, agricultural modernization, flow of urban development factors has greatly changed social economic forms areas, further seriously restricting sustainable economies societies. At national level, China, United States, France lead output influence field. (2) main hotspots include residential organization, land use, driving mechanisms, systems, all which related development. (3) Future will likely focus response new urbanization processes contexts. findings provide overview hotspots, aiding fields quickly grasping frontiers summaries.

This research, set against the backdrop of rapid global advancements in green technology innovation and aligned with China’s sustainable development strategy, conducts an in-depth analysis spatiotemporal disparities spatial spillover effect a low-carbon economy Chinese provinces. Following empirical data testing, study draws following conclusions: (1) is subject to significant regional differences. Over time, level has improved annually, number provinces above middle rising from 11 2010 22 2022. However, differences persist. The eastern region shown most progress, while central area encountered its initial challenges first, western unfolded more segmented manner. Vegetation plays an important role in absorbing carbon dioxide and accelerating the achievement of neutrality. As ecological barrier North China, Taihang Mountains are pivotal to construction project China. This study employed a comprehensive approach, utilising remote sensing technology meteorological topographic data, conjunction with net ecosystem productivity (NEP) estimation model reveal characteristics sinks Mountain, then revealed dynamics evolution NEP inter-annual trend by using Theil–Sen Median slope estimation, Mann–Kendall test, coefficient dissociation analysed driving roles influencing parameter optimal geographic detector. Our findings suggest that Mountain area has clear growth time, average value is 289 gC-m−2-a−1 from 2000 2022, spatial distribution shows high northeast low middle west, gradual increase southwest; areas fluctuation mainly distributed around some cities susceptible interference natural or anthropogenic factors. The influenced variety factors, among which explanatory power each factor as follows: DEM (0.174) > temperature (0.148) precipitation (0.026) (0.017) direction (0.003). had strongest for changes, two-by-two effects were all significantly stronger than single factor, interaction between power; distinguishing climate change contribution activities changes more 90% Mountainous Region was 60%, force change. results this can only provide reference reduction restoration projects but also benefit research paradigm sequestration other regions.

Carbon emission efficiency (CEE) reflects the interplay between carbon emissions and economy, which refers to achieving more economic benefits lower while considering energy, labor, capital inputs. Assessing regional CEE is crucial for evaluating level of China's low-carbon development. Thus, this paper proposes a scenario-based hybrid model with foresight perspective game cross-efficiency (GCE) analysis. It measures future 41 Yangtze River Delta (YRD) cities from 2023 2030. The improved gray forecasting models generate input output datasets GCE analysis, assurance region constraint simulates energy consumption dual-control policy. results show that: (1) CEEs are generally low, an average 0.2142. Shanghai has highest CEE, 0.8089, Tongling lowest, 0.0307, under current policy constraint. (2) Under four control scenarios, YRD urban agglomeration follows U-shaped trend. indicates that may lead short-term decline in YRD, but long term, it gradually increase 2025 or 2026. This study aims to provide a scientific basis for the development of county-level agricultural industries through comprehensive evaluation environmental and economic benefits products. Focusing on Hancheng City in Shaanxi Province, this paper calculates analyzes carbon emission intensity per unit output value major products, assessing their advantage indices. Global warming in tandem with surface albedo reduction caused by black carbon (BC) deposition on glaciers accelerated glacier melting; however, their respective contributions remain unclear. Glaciers the Qilian Mountains are crucial for development of oases Hexi Corridor; area has decreased more than 20% over past half-century. Thus, this study developed a dynamic model light-absorbing particles (LAPs), coupled energy and mass balance model. We comprehensively assessed effects BC melting typical based 13.1% annual glacier-wide melting, which directly deposited atmospheric reduced 0.02 accounted 9.1% melting. The air temperature during 2000–2010 increased 1.5 °C relative to that 1950s, accounting 51.9% current Meanwhile, emission have 4.6 times compared those early Industrial Revolution recorded an ice core, conservatively 6.3% Mitigating emissions limited influence long-term, mitigation should exert noteworthy impact through self-purification glaciers.

In the context of global efforts to address climate change, research into regional carbon neutrality strategies has become especially critical. For developing countries and regions, scientifically rationally assessing paths for small-scale transformations under imperatives is essential effective implementation low-carbon transition measures. This study uses Chongming District in Shanghai, China, as a case construct emission sink forecasting framework from multi-dimensional natural-social perspective, facilitating simulation optimization pathways transformation. The results indicate:(1)From 2000 2020, total emissions exhibited rising trend, while initially declined then increased, located potential enhancement zone, significant space development.(2) Enhanced management ecological spaces land use planning led notable increases sink. Strategic measures such consumption reductions, alongside energy transitions, effectively controlled growth facilitated comprehensive decarbonization. (3) Under combinations priority with enhanced control balanced development control, region can achieve neutrality, showcasing role policy regulation high-quality carbon-neutral transformations.
