In an urban area of Kenitra, Morocco, the apportionment black carbon (BC) sources into fossil fuel (BCff) and biomass burning (BCwb) using Aethalometer model has been conducted. This study investigates temporal trends BCff BCwb contributions to total BC concentrations. The analysis unveils distinct diurnal, weekly, seasonal patterns in concentrations, providing insights origins dynamics pollution. Source results revealed that relative contribution fuels concentrations was more pronounced during winter summer. contrast, exhibited variability across different seasons. Fossil higher (ranging from 90.1% 93.8% autumn) than 6.2% autumn 9.9% winter) variation highlights complex interplay between meteorological conditions emission sources. Diurnally, peaks traffic rush hours (human-induced morning evening homecoming traffic), while biomass-burning-derived at nighttime, particularly winter, reaching values as high 13% concentration. Nighttime concentration, on average, surpasses daytime levels, suggesting stronger influence emissions. These variations levels provide compelling evidence their local origins, primarily vehicle emissions, socioeconomic activities, industry-related combustion area. underscores also a significant link fuel-derived with being affected by such wind, temperature, pressure. Lastly, these findings underline critical importance considering pollution development effective air quality management strategies.

Abstract Studies related to impact of black carbon (BC) aerosols on weather phenomena like monsoon breaks, winter fog events, pre-monsoon heatwaves etc. are sparse in India. This study fills the gap observational information BC and their relationship with meteorological phenomenon. We examined interaction between precipitation during monsoon's active-break cycle, a critical period for agriculture, water resources, patterns. Data from stations rural urban areas provided contrasting seasonal diurnal variation. The pattern is closely linked anthropogenic activities factors. examines significant variation relation local regional concentrations show distinct bimodal patterns, major peak evening, 2000 h 2300 IST secondary morning 0700 0900 IST. Seasonal variations lowest levels due efficient wet scavenging, while highest occur post-monsoon, primarily agricultural burning. Meteorological factors temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed significantly influence dynamics. Higher temperatures lower humidity increase levels, rainfall reduces them, disperses aerosols, affecting concentration distribution. Analysis heatwaves, conditions reveals complex interplay Local such as temperature inversions patterns phenomena. research enhances understanding pollution its diverse effects climate, emphasizing importance integrating into air quality management policymaking. It lays groundwork developing targeted strategies mitigate BC's adverse health environment
