This article investigates the economic and technical feasibility of employing various photovoltaic (PV) tracking systems to electrify Western Pelee Island. The under consideration include horizontal-axis monthly adjustment (HMA), continuous (HCA), vertical-axis (VCA), dual-axis tracker (DAT). analysis includes a techno-economic assessment these trackers, considering solar, bio, diesel operation two dispatch strategies: cycle charging (CC) load following (LF). results indicate that optimal solution is CC-controlled system equipped with VCA tracker. LF-controlled this has higher net present cost (NPC), energy (COE), renewable fraction by ∼$0.02 M, ∼$0.002/kWh, 7.6%, respectively. NPC HMA COE HVA-based CC strategies are most sensitive cases SOC min . In variation, largest lowest decrease in COE, respectively, observed HVA DA trackers controlled strategy. order for match performance their costs must approximately 41% 43% LF systems, financial sensitivity DA-based due albedo effects. study provides valuable insights into optimizing PV electrification Island enhances our understanding implications associated technologies sustainable planning.
