This chapter discusses the most recent applications of olive-derived materials in biotechnology, agriculture and food technology. Although high-quality olive oil is usually destined for human consumption, lower grades or waste from mill can be used to produce a plethora valuable products, such as biofuel, soil fertilisers, medicines, enzymes, packaging biopolymers even building textile dyes. Furthermore, compounds wastewater have been found stimulate plant growth by affecting their metabolism also potent antimicrobial properties, helping biocontrol hazardous pathogens. All these products by-products help establish sustainable circular economy through recycling resources.

Abstract Waste valorization offers a sustainable approach to waste management and the generation of biofuels bioenergy, mitigating environmental impact fossil fuel production use. Carbon emissions food‐source competition associated with first‐generation can be mitigated. Reports on thermochemical biochemical pathways for generating bio‐oil syngas provide extensive coverage processes but lack recent insights into technological advances upgrading these outputs biodiesel, biomethanol, bioethanol, biogas, biomethane. They also often omit information commercial status, leading prospective companies, market size, future predictions, challenges. The drawbacks do not appear have been discussed widely in literature – they include deforestation, land‐use changes, soil texture biodiversity social impacts. To address gaps literature, this review examines factors mentioned above, focusing waste‐to‐energy conversion proposing solutions targeted at governments, policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, researchers seeking understand mitigate challenges sector.
