Abstract Biomass burning (BB) and biogenic emissions significantly influence the chemical compositions of organic aerosols (OAs). In this study, aerosol samples collected throughout year from a regional receptor site in Pearl River Delta (PRD) were analyzed for BB tracers, primary biological particle (PBAP) secondary tracers. The concentrations highest November to January, was mainly attributed domestic biomass southern China. Southeast Asia affected PRD through long‐range transport between May August. Two sugar concentration peaks, one September October other March, may reflect plant phenology, constant most indicated PBAP background emissions. Concentration correlation analyses that use arabitol, erythritol, inositol as tracers not be appropriate because strong interference by intensive Positive matrix factorization source apportionment showed debris fungal spores (46%) dominant contributors (BOAs) during marine monsoon, but (28%) important contributor continental monsoon. positive results agreed well with molecular‐level radiocarbon‐based results. Our work indicates geographic anthropogenic factors, including activities, combine control BOAs PRD.

Abstract Particulate matter (PM) is a major air pollutant that poses significant risks to human health and the environment, particularly in urban areas with high concentrations of PM. In this study, stable isotopes carbon (δ13C) nitrogen (δ15N), total ratio (TC/TN) were estimated particulate patter (PM10) collected during year 2022 from Trombay area, coastal site Mumbai, India. The results analysed identify possible sources fate PM understand effects on sampling area. showed δ13C values ranged − 26.2‰ -22.4‰, while δ15N 2.3‰ 21.4‰ study period. average was 24.9 ± 0.9‰ 9.1 5.6‰, respectively. TC/TN 2.8 7.5, an 4.8. TN TC varied 0.1 µg.m− 3 2.3 0.4 3, observed indicated fossil fuels biomass burning, be dominant aerosol. relative contribution different (vehicular, biomass, coal, marine origin, continental dust) seasonal variations. Systematic change aerosols winter pre-monsoon monsoon period noteworthy as it matches systematically increasing influence winds over correlation between parameters reveals formation secondary organic inorganic long-range transport history aerosols.
