Abstract Biomass burning (BB) and biogenic emissions significantly influence the chemical compositions of organic aerosols (OAs). In this study, aerosol samples collected throughout year from a regional receptor site in Pearl River Delta (PRD) were analyzed for BB tracers, primary biological particle (PBAP) secondary tracers. The concentrations highest November to January, was mainly attributed domestic biomass southern China. Southeast Asia affected PRD through long‐range transport between May August. Two sugar concentration peaks, one September October other March, may reflect plant phenology, constant most indicated PBAP background emissions. Concentration correlation analyses that use arabitol, erythritol, inositol as tracers not be appropriate because strong interference by intensive Positive matrix factorization source apportionment showed debris fungal spores (46%) dominant contributors (BOAs) during marine monsoon, but (28%) important contributor continental monsoon. positive results agreed well with molecular‐level radiocarbon‐based results. Our work indicates geographic anthropogenic factors, including activities, combine control BOAs PRD.
