Human-induced global changes, including anthropogenic climate change, biotic globalization, trophic downgrading and pervasive land-use intensification, are transforming Earth's biosphere, placing biodiversity ecosystems at the forefront of unprecedented challenges. The Anthropocene, characterized by importance Homo sapiens in shaping Earth system, necessitates a re-evaluation our understanding stewardship ecosystems. This theme issue delves into multifaceted challenges posed ongoing ecological planetary transformation explores potential solutions across four key subthemes. Firstly, it investigates functioning emerging novel ecosystems, emphasizing urgent need to comprehend dynamics under uncharted conditions. second subtheme focuses on projections recognizing necessity predicting shifts Anthropocene. Importantly, inherent uncertainties complexity responses environmental stressors pose for societal accurate change. RAD framework (resist-accept-direct) is highlighted as flexible yet nuanced decision-making tool that recognizes adaptive approaches, providing insights directing adapting Anthropocene while minimizing negative impacts. imperative extend temporal perspective beyond 2100 emphasized, given irreversible changes already set motion. Projections of spatial biodiversity dynamics under climate warming are often based on models including only variables, and when non-climatic factors (e.g. soil) included, data at much coarser resolutions than those experienced by plants. Field studies along elevation gradients permit the gathering detailed soil data, while still covering a wide climatic gradient. Here, an intensive field survey four spring forest herbs gradient showed that properties had substantial impacts occurrence/abundance all species, effects were more pronounced higher elevations. For

Background The endangered takin ( Budorcas taxicolor ) faces health risks from parasitic infections, including gastrointestinal helminths and protozoa. While previous studies have explored its gut microbiome, research on parasites remains limited. Investigating parasite diversity effects is crucial for effective conservation. Methods 59 fecal samples were collected the Sichuan Tangjiahe National Nature Reserve, China, across elevations of 1,100–2,500 meters. categorized into four groups based location. DNA was extracted using CTAB method, amplified 18S rRNA, sent sequencing. Results Analysis revealed significant differences in eukaryotic communities among RA, RB, RC, RD groups. Several potentially pathogenic protozoa identified, Oesophagostomum , Dictyocaulus Entamoeba Eimeria . Some parasites, such as Aelurostrongylus exhibited high abundance widespread distribution. they are harmless to takins, capable infecting other animals. correlation between plant community composition suggests that certain plants may act vectors facilitating transmission. Conclusion This study highlights potential impact nematodes population Tangjiahe, while also examines relationship dietary takins infections. has important ecological practical implications wildlife conservation management.

Cardiocrinum are perennial herbaceous plants of the Liliaceae family with high ornamental, nutritional, and medicinal value. However, critical knowledge gaps remain regarding following: (1) fine-scale habitat preferences Cardiocrinum; (2) key ecological drivers influencing their growth distribution. The MaxEnt software 3.4.1 was used to simulate current future suitable habitats Cardiocrinum, evaluate impacts environmental changes on its distribution, determine distribution under climate change scenarios. AUC value model in study >0.98, which indicates that had good accuracy. results show as a typical understory herb, precipitation warmest quarter (bio18) temperature seasonality (bio04) main factors affecting Cardiocrinum. In addition, giganteum var. yunnanense also affected by slope human activity. Under SSP126, SSP245, SSP585 scenarios, areas cathayanum C. showed an increasing trend. area increased SSP126 scenario; however, it substantially declined SSP245 shifted higher latitudes. centroid more than 5 degrees latitude during 2081s, while did not shift 2 latitude. longitudes westward three There is niche differentiation among others, whilst have overlapping niches. future, we will strengthen protection wild resources accordance for
