In 2024, numerous key clinical trials in the field of cardiology have been published or presented at major international conferences. This review seeks to collate and summarise these reflect on their context. The authors evaluated all conferences during 2024 with a focus which would influence and/or change current practice. We reviewed including American College Cardiology (ACC), European Association for Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EuroPCR), Society (ESC), Transcatheter Therapeutics (TCT), Heart (AHA), Rhythm (EHRA), Angiography (SCAI), TVT-The Summit (TVT) Research Technologies (CRT). Trials considered highest impact broad relevance across cardiology, high likelihood upon practice were included. Over 90 identified spectrum cardiology. Important updates percutaneous coronary intervention new ESC guidance several physiology (FAVOR III), drug-coated balloons (REGCAGE-FREE, AGENT-IDE), shock, acute syndromes (SENIOR-RITA, DanGer-Shock). Structural included transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) from EARLY-TAVR, TAVR-UNLOAD NOTION 3, as well seminal tricuspid (TRISCEND II) mitral (MATTERHORN). Key preventative data lipoprotein (a) pharmacotherapy, low-density (LDL) cholesterol reduction hypertension management (BPROAD, BedMed, KRAKEN), heart failure (SUMMIT, FINEARTS) hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (SEQUOIA-HCM) cardiac amyloid (HELIOS-B). presents concise summary past year should be interest clinicians researchers

Stroke is a devastating complication of cardiovascular interventions. Intraprocedural stroke well-documented and feared risk cardiac percutaneous transcatheter procedures. If clinically significant strokes are absent, silent remain the next in line to pose large concerns related future cognitive decline, risk, overall increased morbidity mortality. Cerebral protection devices (CPD) developed overtime aim neutralize this through either capture-based filter or deflector mechanism. Many CPDs exist currently, each one unique, with varying degrees evidence. The adoption has allowed procedures be carried out patients high thromboembolic risks who may have historically been discommended. Though skewed towards certain procedures, body evidence still present across other This review will discuss clinical importance respective rates, updated surrounding CPDs, differing opinions types cost benefits, what lies ahead for within realm undertaken catheterization laboratories.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has revolutionized the treatment of stenosis, particularly in patients at high risk adverse events for traditional open-heart surgery. Since early 2000s, TAVR evolved rapidly with advancements device technology, procedural techniques, and patient selection criteria. Over past 20 years, this catheter-based procedure significantly improved survival quality life, demonstrating both safety efficacy TAVR, even low surgical risk. This paper reviews latest advances design strategies treating stenosis. It explores challenges long-term outcomes given younger age undergoing prospects emerging technologies to improve outcomes.
