Multicharged cyclodextrin (CD) supramolecular assemblies, including those based on positively/negatively charged modified mono-6-deoxy-CDs, per-6-deoxy-CDs, and random 2,3,6-deoxy-CDs, as well parent CDs binding guests, have been extensively applied in chemistry, materials science, medicine, biological catalysis, other fields. In this review, we primarily focus summarizing the recent advances encapsulating especially construction process of assemblies their applications. Compared with uncharged CDs, multicharged display remarkably high antiviral antibacterial activity efficient protein fibrosis inhibition. Meanwhile, can interact oppositely dyes, drugs, polymers, biomacromolecules to achieve effective encapsulation aggregation. The construction of host-guest-binding-induced phosphorescent supramolecular assemblies has become one increasingly significant topics in biomaterial research. Herein, we demonstrate that the cucurbit[8]uril host can induce anthracene-conjugated bromophenylpyridinium guest to form a linear assembly, thus facilitating enhancement red fluorescence emission by host-stabilized charge-transfer interactions. When anthryl group is photo-oxidized anthraquinone, obtained nanoconstructs be readily converted into homoternary inclusion complex, accompanied emergence strong green phosphorescence aqueous solution. More intriguingly, dual organelle-targeted imaging abilities have been also distinctively achieved nuclei and lysosomes after undergoing photochemical reaction upon UV irradiation. This photooxidation-driven purely organic room-temperature provides convenient feasible strategy for organelle identification track specific biospecies physiological events living cells.

Cell-based drug carriers are mostly prepared in vitro, which may negatively affect the physiological functions of cells, and induce possible immune rejections when applied to different individuals.
