Marine biofouling is a well-established and significant challenge for the maritime industry. Self-healing coatings applied to ships have demonstrated superior surface properties, including enhanced corrosion resistance ability mitigate biological contamination. Consequently, numerous studies been conducted assess different self-repairing coatings, which incorporate mechanisms such as microcapsules, dynamic covalent bonds, ion exchange. This review begins with an introduction process of formation. It then provides comprehensive outline self-healing that developed improve wear resistance, summarizing advancements in this area. Finally, building upon these three coating systems, paper offers summary fabrication protection technologies preparation micro/nano containers, warning mechanisms, intelligent responsive protection. The pervasive issue of metal corrosion in various industrial environments, especially marine settings, incurs significant economic costs and hazardous failures. Traditional protection methods, although diverse, fall short durability environmental adaptability, necessitating advanced solutions, such as two-dimensional (2D) materials, including graphene, layered double hydroxides, boron nitride, MXenes, MoS2. In this study, MCC nanosheets (MXene@Cur-Ce(III)) with excellent antioxidant properties, namely, MXene@curcumin (MC) doped Ce(III), were synthesized using a straightforward one-step method. According to the potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) test, had corrosion-inhibitory effects as mixed inhibitor. Subsequently, these integrated into water-based epoxy resin (WEP) fabricate nanocomposite coating. The results revealed that wear rate of WEP coating containing 0.4 wt % (4-MCCW) was lower than blank (BW) by 98.22%, indicating exceptional resistance 4-MCCW. Furthermore, 4-MCCW exhibited remarkable long-term anticorrosion properties. Even after immersion in 3.5 NaCl solution for 84 days, it maintained highest |Z0.01 Hz| value (4.21 × 109 Ω cm2), approximately 2 orders magnitude higher BW. demonstrated corrosion and protection due its favorable interfacial interaction, self-lubrication, superb antioxidation synergistic active-passive protection.
