Abstract Solution‐processable perovskite‐based devices are potentially very interesting because of their relatively cheap fabrication cost but outstanding optoelectronic performance. However, the solution spin‐coating process involves complicated processes, including perovskite droplets, nucleation perovskite, and formation intermediate films, resulting in crystallization pathways for films under annealing. Understanding therefore controlling perovskites is difficult. Recently, synchrotron radiation‐based situ grazing‐incidence wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (GIWAXS) techniques, which possess advantages high collimation, resolution, brightness, have enabled to bridge structure information with device performance by revealing real‐time during process. Great progress has been made in organic solar cells (OSCs) recent years, especially after the report of highly efficient small-molecule electron acceptor Y6. However, relatively low open circuit voltage (VOC) and unbalanced charge mobilities remain two issues that need to be resolved for further improvement performance OSCs. Herein, a wide-band-gap amorphous IO-4Cl, which possessed shallower lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy level than Y6, was introduced into PM6:Y6 binary system construct ternary device. The mechanism study revealed IO-4Cl alloyed with Y6 prevent overaggregation offer dual channels effective hole transportation, resulting balanced mobilities. Taking these advantages, an enhanced VOC 0.894 V improved fill factor 75.58% were achieved optimized PM6:Y6:IO-4Cl-based device, yielding promising power conversion efficiency (PCE) 17.49%, surpassed 16.72% This work provides alternative solution balance PM6:Y6-based devices by incorporating high-performance LUMO A–D–A small molecule as third compound.

Abstract Exciton binding energy ( E b ) has been regarded as a critical parameter in charge separation during photovoltaic conversion. Minimizing the of materials can facilitate exciton dissociation low‐driving force organic solar cells (OSCs) and thus improve power conversion efficiency (PCE); nevertheless, diminishing with deliberate design principles remains significant challenge. Herein, bulky side chain steric hindrance structure was inserted into Y‐series acceptors to minimize by modulating intra‐ intermolecular interaction. Theoretical experimental results indicate that hindrance‐induced optimal interaction enhance molecular polarizability, promote electronic orbital overlap between molecules, delocalized transfer pathways, thereby resulting low . The conspicuously reduced obtained Y‐ChC5 pinpoint modulation detrimental effects on low‐driving‐force OSCs, achieving remarkable PCE 19.1% over 95% internal quantum efficiency. Electrical energy is essential for modern society to sustain economic growths. The soaring demand the electrical energy, together with an awareness of environmental impact fossil fuels, has been driving a shift towards utilization solar energy. Tuning bulk heterojunctions is an important step for improving organic photovoltaic device performance; however, challenges remain in obtaining sufficient lifetimes using this concept. In work, we report on high-performance PM6/Y7 layer-by-layer devices by carefully tuning the structure and studying effects performance. We demonstrate that optimized can effectively improve photophysical properties of device, resulting a conversion efficiency 16.21%, surpassing heterojunction counterpart. Notably, developed also outperforms traditional terms long-term photostability thermal stability under continuous illumination temperature stress (85°C) approximately 1,000 h, with similar results obtained eight other non-fullerene acceptor systems. The improved these systems ascribed to mitigation strong phase aggregation seen films.
