Solvent‐Free Supramolecular Polymerization for Feather‐Like Nanostructured Chiral Fluorescent Polyurethanes with Multimodal Chiroptical Stimuli Responsiveness

Abstract
Chiral
supramolecular
polymers
with
stimuli‐responsive
circularly
polarized
luminescence
(CPL)
are
highly
desirable
for
smart
flexible
optoelectronic
devices,
but
remain
rarely
reported.
Here,
a
simple
solvent‐free
polymerization
preparing
chiral
polyurethanes
is
presented
by
in
situ
induced
self‐assembly
strategy,
using
cellulose
nanocrystals
(CNCs)‐based
isocyanate
prepolymers
and
macromolecular
polyols
as
precursors,
achieving
precise
control
over
polymer
chain
assembly
spot‐like
arrangement.
More
importantly,
further
incorporating
π‐conjugated
luminescent
dihydroxynaphthalene
molecule,
CPL‐active
polyurethane
films
feather‐like
nanostructures
constructed,
which
promote
the
ordered
arrangement
of
CNCs‐based
segments
due
to
increased
spatial
resistance.
The
π─H
bond
network
between
CNCs
urethane‐linked
benzene
rings
drives
self‐assembly,
enabling
higher‐level
amplification
enhanced
fluorescence.
Interestingly,
prepared
fluorescent
display
multimodal
chiroptical
stimuli
responsiveness
under
various
stimuli,
such
temperature,
solvent
polarity,
pH,
light,
sensitivity
network.
This
work
offers
new
insights
into
designing
significant
potentials.

Abstract
Pure
room‐temperature
phosphorescence
(pRTP)
promises
great
advantages
in
both
exciton
utilization
and
lifetime
manipulation
over
existing
organic
luminophores
for
a
variety
of
emerging
applications,
but
the
low
brightness,
efficiency,
color
purity
constrain
afterglow
luminescence
significantly.
Here,
promising
approach
to
design
highly
bright,
efficient,
narrowband
pRTP
with
long‐lifetime
hyperafterglow
is
proposed
by
isolating
conjugated
energy
donor
circularly
polarized
(CP)
acceptor
multi‐resonance
effect
into
rigid
host.
It
shown
that
aggregation
chiral
P‐containing
binaphthyl
promotes
generation
CP‐pRTP
high
brightness
up
≈50
cd
m
−2
,
while
simultaneous
transfer
chirality
afford
multi‐color
photoluminescence
efficiency
≈90%,
full‐width
at
half
maxima
31–39
nm,
120–770
ms,
luminescent
dissymmetry
≈10
−3
.
Also,
excellent
stability
capable
resisting
quenching
effects
oxygen,
solvents,
aqueous
solutions
strong
acids
bases
are
observed.
With
these
advantages,
applications
information
encryption,
grayscale
imaging,
3D
high‐resolution
models
realized,
promoting
significantly
fundamental
understandings
on
modulation
construction
high‐performance
materials
advanced
photophysical
properties
applications.
