An elegant and highly concise strategy for the construction of coumarin-functionalized pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines from available propargylamines isoquinolinium N-ylides has been disclosed. In this reaction, acted as a C2 synthon to form coumarin ring well 1,3-dipole construct pyrrole in single pot. This cascade process involves 1,4-conjugate addition/lactonization/1,3-dipolar cycloaddition four chemical bonds (one C–O bond three C–C bonds) two new heterocyclic skeletons. Additionally, most these compounds showed good fluorescence properties exhibited high molar extinction coefficient large Stokes shifts.

Isoquinolinium salts are well-known N-heterocyclic cationic compounds that have been applied in various research fields, such as materials chemistry and pharmaceutical applications. In particular, isoquinolinium with polyaromatic structures widely investigated due to their intrinsic photophysical properties, including fluorescence emission maxima, lifetime, quantum yield. Notably, fluorescent synthesized via synthetic strategies, alkylation of isoquinoline, oxidation dihydropyridines, rearrangement reactions, transition-metal-catalyzed C-H activation. this review, we summarize the methodologies for diverse applications applications, chemistry, theranostics, DNA binding, sensing, bioimaging.

We have developed a metal-free photocatalytic selective hydroxylation of benzylic methylenes to secondary alcohols. This approach utilizes low-cost eosin Y as photocatalyst, O2 green oxidant, and inexpensive triethylamine inhibitor for overoxidation. The mild reaction conditions enable the production alcohols with 56–95% yields, making it promising environmental-friendly method synthesis from methylenes.
