Abstract Upgrading polyester waste into high value‐added chemicals can achieve carbon recycling, which is of great significance for sustainable development. Herein, we report a one‐pot protocol to oxidatively degrade polycaprolactone (PCL) with air adipic acid (AA) mediated by ionic liquid (IL, e.g., 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, [BMIm][NTf 2 ]) in water. In this protocol, IL catalyzes the hydrolysis PCL 6‐hydroxyhexanoic (6‐HHA) and further mediates oxidation 6‐HHA AA over TiO ‐supported Pt nanocatalysts, reaching highest yield 85.6% under relatively mild conditions (140 °C, 1.5 MPa). Mechanism investigation indicates that both O •– •OH derived from oxygen water are involved form 6‐oxohexanoic via two pathways, convert AA. Abstract This work describes a very efficient methodology for the methanolysis of polyester and polycarbonate plastic waste into variety valuable products using homogeneous heterogeneous manganese compounds in presence KO t Bu. Excellent yields are obtained 1 mol% catalysts Mn(OTf) 2 , Mn (CO) 10 MnBr(CO) 5 MeCpMn(CO) 3 Bu, under mild reaction conditions.
