Abstract Nanoplastics are emerging pollutants of global concern. Agricultural soil is becoming a primary sink for nanoplastics generated from plastic debris. The uptake and accumulation by crops contaminate the food chain pose unexpected risks to human health. However, whether can enter grains their impact on crop grown in contaminated still unknown. Here, translocation polystyrene (PS‐NPs) crops, including peanut ( Arachis hypogaea L.) rice Oryza sativa investigated. It demonstrated PS‐NPs root at maturation stage. treatment with (250 mg kg −1 ) increases empty‐shell numbers grain 35.45%, thereby decreasing seed‐setting rate 3.02%, also decreases average seed weight peanuts 3.45%. Moreover, exerted adverse effects nutritional quality, such as content mineral elements, amino acids, unsaturated fatty acids. Nanoplastics (NPs) are increasingly perceived as an emerging threat to terrestrial environments, but the adverse impacts of NPs on soil fauna and mechanisms behind these negative outcomes remain elusive. Here, a risk assessment was conducted model organism (earthworm) from tissue cell. Using palladium-doped polystyrene NPs, we quantitatively measured nanoplastic accumulation in earthworm investigated its toxic effects by combining physiological with RNA-Seq transcriptomic analyses. After 42-day exposure, accumulated up 15.9 143.3 mg kg-1 for low (0.3 kg-1) high (3 dose groups, respectively. retention led decrease antioxidant enzyme activity reactive oxygen species (O2- H2O2), which reduced growth rate 21.3 %-50.8 % caused pathological abnormalities.
