An efficient heterogeneous copper(I)-catalyzed three-component tandem cyclization of ketoxime acetates, aldehydes, and activated methylene compounds has been developed that proceeds smoothly in DMSO at 120 °C by using an 3-(2-aminoethylamino)propyl-modified MCM-41-bound copper(I) bromide [MCM-41-2N-CuBr] as the catalyst, delivering a variety polysubstituted pyridines good to high yields. The heterogenized catalyst can be readily obtained via simple preparative procedure from commercially available inexpensive reagents, reused more than seven times without any apparent drop its catalytic efficiency.

α,β-Unsaturated aldehydes are important building blocks for the synthesis of a wide range chemicals, including polymers. The these molecules from cheap feedstocks such as alkenes remains scientific challenge, mainly due to low reactivity alkenes. Here we report selective and metal-free access α,β-unsaturated with formaldehyde. This reaction is catalyzed by dimethylamine affords in yields up 80 %. By combining Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations experiments, elucidate mechanism which based on cascade hydride transfer, hydrolysis aldolization reactions. can be performed under very mild conditions (30-50 °C), theoretically 100 % carbon-economical fashion, water only by-product. was successfully applied non-activated linear 1-alkenes, thus opening an industrially relevant widely abundant chemicals at large scale.
