Vascular
dementia
(VaD)
is
a
prevalent
form
of
cognitive
impairment
with
underlying
vascular
etiology.
In
this
review,
we
examine
recent
genetic
advancements
in
our
understanding
VaD,
encompassing
range
methodologies
including
genome-wide
association
studies
(GWAS),
polygenic
risk
scores
(PRS),
heritability
estimates,
and
family
for
monogenic
disorders
revealing
the
complex
heterogeneous
nature
disease.
We
report
well-known
associations
highlight
potential
pathways
mechanisms
implicated
VaD
its
pathological
factors,
stroke,
cerebral
small
vessel
diseases
amyloid
angiopathy.
Moreover,
discuss
important
modifiable
factors
such
as
hypertension,
diabetes,
dyslipidemia,
emphasizing
importance
multifactorial
approach
prevention,
treatment,
basis
VaD.

several

to

highlighting
