Abstract An α‐difluoroalkylation of benzyl amines with trifluoromethylarenes is disclosed herein. This protocol characterized by its operational simplicity, excellent chemoselectivity and broad scope—even advanced synthetic intermediates—, thus offering a new entry point to medicinally‐relevant α‐difluoroalkylated from simple, yet readily accessible, precursors.

Abstract 2,2′-Bipyridine derivatives were synthesized by dehydrogenative dimerization of nonactivated pyridines using sodium dispersion. The reaction features operational simplicity, mild conditions, and the use earth abundant nontoxic as sole metal source. Importantly, transition metals are not required, which is beneficial in fields materials science drug synthesis, where contamination may cause significant problems.

Exploiting bimetallic cooperation alkali-metal manganate (II) complexes can efficiently promote oxidative homocoupling of terminal alkynes furnishing an array conjugated 1,3-diynes. The influence the on these C-C bond forming processes has been studied by preparing and structurally characterizing tetra(alkyl) manganates [(TMEDA)2 Na2 Mn(CH2 SiMe3 )4 ] [(PMDETA)2 K2 ].
