Abstract The photocatalytic conversion of biomass and plastic waste provides opportunities for sustainable fuel chemical production. Heterogeneous photocatalysts, typically composed semiconductors with distinctive redox properties in their conduction band (CB) valence (VB), facilitate both the oxidative reductive valorization organic feedstocks. This article a comprehensive overview recent advancements photorefinery plastics from perspective photocatalysts. We explore roles VB CB enhancing value‐added via various pathways. Our aim is to bridge gap between mechanisms renewable carbon feedstock valorization, inspiring further development refinery plastics.

Abstract Photothermal catalysis is a promising strategy to combine the advantages of both thermal-catalysis and photocatalysis. Herein we achieve protolignin conversion aromatics via photothermal catalytic transfer hydrogenolysis process intensified by in-situ protection strategy. The Pd/TiO 2 at 140 °C with UV irradiation can catalyze reforming primary alcohols aldehydes active H* species, which further participate in acetalation 1,3-diol group β-O-4 linkage mediate C β –OAr bonds, respectively. birch sawdust ethanol as hydrogen donor provides 40 wt% yield phenolic monomers, compared an 11 monomer obtained from extracted 1,3-diol-protected lignin under same conditions. synergistic effect photocatalysis contributes prior cleavage bond before other C–O bonds. feasibility solar-light-driven system demonstrated.

Abstract Lignin, derived from the abundant and renewable lignocellulosic biomass resource, stands as predominant aromatic polymer. The pursuit of highly efficient catalysts for lignin depolymerization to yield valuable monomers with exceptional selectivity high yields remains an ambitious yet formidable objective. Herein, use Cs 3 Sb 2 Br 9 nanocrystals (NCs) is reported a photocatalyst active selective C−C bond cleavage produce value‐added compounds. Surprisingly, remarkable 2‐phenoxy‐1‐phenylethanol (PP‐ol) conversion rate 100% impressive 97.5% benzoic acid (yield 93.7%) phenyl format 97.4%) are achieved in absence any cocatalyst. Detailed experimental theoretical analysis disclose that activation dehydrogenation process C β ─H induced by synergetic action Lewis sites on surface NCs significantly lowers energy barrier cleavage, leading depolymerization. This study expected provide deep insights into boosting via modulating catalyst, may shed light other solar areas related halide perovskites.
