Bioconversion of methane into functional polysaccharides presents a promising strategy for mitigating methane-induced greenhouse gas emissions and addressing the limitations plant-derived polysaccharide sugar-based microbial production. In this study, novel methane-derived (MePS) was obtained from newly isolated methanotrophic bacterium Alkalicoccus glycogenes WONF2802. Structural characterization found that MePS is branched-chain glucan with weight-average molecular weight 283.2 kDa. Additionally, exhibited considerable antioxidant capacities in both vitro biochemical assays H2O2-induced oxidative stress cell model. This work establishes potential pathway production, reducing reliance on plant feedstocks, while offering new emission reduction.
