Utilization of various biomasses as raw materials in biorefineries represents a promising alternative for the production valuable chemicals and biofuels. This study investigates potential fungus Mucor indicus DSM 2158, cultivated on media containing liquid phase grass hydrolysates (LGH) nitrogen sources (yeast extract corn steep liquor), metabolites, such ethanol, chitin, chitosan, fatty acids. The ethanol yield varied depending cultivation conditions. highest substrate-into-ethanol conversion coefficients (0.14–0.2 g g−1) were achieved during M. LGH medium 5 L−1 CSL Erlenmeyer flasks bubble column bioreactor. In these cultivations, fungal biomass concentrations (5.61–5.91 L−1) also observed. flask content total lipids dry (15.76%) was obtained contained up to 22 acids, with oleic acid (≈50%) being most predominant. Chitin chitosan yields from 0.1 g−1 0.3 residual used growth non-sulfur purple bacterium Rhodovulum adriaticum 2781. Cultivations R. 2781 media, stirred-tank bioreactor, resulted 0.50 2.26 L−1. After extraction bacterial biomass, pigments (expressed bacteriochlorophyll-a) range 1.8 48.1 mg titer bacteriochlorophyll-a exhausted yeast extract. established biorefinery system has be optimized order reach capacity transfer larger scale.
