Abstract Tobacco waste presents notable environmental challenges, such as soil and water contamination from nicotine other harmful chemicals, compounded by inefficiencies in conventional management. Converting tobacco into biochar offers a promising solution to address these issues. This study reviews the production, properties, applications of derived tobacco, using feedstocks stems, seeds, leaves, fines. It has been observed that stems are most commonly used precursor pyrolysis is frequently employed thermochemical conversion process, with yields ranging 5% 85%, depending on operational variables. Tobacco‐derived exhibits surface areas typically between 2 50 m /g, fixed carbon content 4 63 wt%, ash 12% 51%. applied agriculture, treatment, composting, energy demonstrating its efficiency. also plays an important role pollution remediation. Despite existing research tobacco‐based biochar, gaps remain gasification torrefaction biomass use tobacco‐related wastes like leftover cigarettes The findings this depict dual benefits utilizing for production – addressing disposal challenges while creating valuable material multiple economic advantages.

Abstract This study investigates the impact of low-temperature top-lit updraft reactor chamber size on GNSBC yield and properties. For this study, volumes carbonization (2,364, 2,013, 1,468, 970 cm 3 ) in a biomass-fueled TLUD biomass gasifier were varied, resulting biochar was analyzed using SEM, EDX, FTIR. The novelty work lies its investigation unexplored compartment groundnut shell properties yield, driven by need to optimize production efficiency support sustainable waste management practices. results showed that variation significantly affected with an initial increase followed diminishing returns. An led decreased duration, increased temperature, porosity, oxygen content. SEM analysis revealed consistent amorphous multi-layered morphological features across BC samples, while EDX confirmed high carbon content samples. FTIR spectroscopy presence oxygenated functional groups suitable for pollutant adsorption, supporting GNSBC’s role environmental remediation industrial processes. research contributes optimizing efficiency, advancing circular economy goals,

In contemporary waste management, the escalating volumes of bamboo stalk present a pressing environmental challenge, necessitating innovative and sustainable solutions. This research examined properties activated carbon monolith (ACM) derived from (BS) using facile method. Polystyrene resin KOH were employed as an eco-binder activator in synthesis, respectively. Analytical methods to characterise mechanical, morphological, elemental, textual profiles obtained. The study's results indicated creation characterised by rough, amorphous shape firmly secured binder. It revealed BET surface area measuring 265 m2/g pore diameter 2.8 nm. displayed various irregular void pores, forming mesoporous morphological network, along with sporadically distributed slivery-white dot-like particles on its heterogeneous surface. EDX analysis also BS-ACM is largely composed (77%), potassium (11%), oxygen (8%), trace amounts aluminium, gold, iron, plutonium. compressive strength test peak force 21,536 N before any significant signs appreciable deformation observed, subsequent estimation Young's modulus at 8.34 MPa. Beyond advancing valorisation, aligns circular economy principles practices, presenting promising pathway for developing eco-friendly materials contributing more resource-efficient future.
