ABSTRACT Glass nanofibers were prepared by using the electrospinning technology, demonstrating diameters of 50–150 nm. A smart polymer adhesive that has ability to glow in dark and resist water was developed from a hybrid electrospun glass (EGN; reinforcement fibers), rare‐earth aluminate (REA; photochromic agent), gum Arabic (GA; hosting matrix). After an excitation source is turned off, produced luminescent glue can continue produce light for up 100 min. ABSTRACT Lanthanides are a common component in glass windows for smart products. However, glasses fragile and inflexible, corrosive to alkali, costly, whereas plastics cheap, durable, safe. Herein, afterglow photochromic plastic were developed by reinforcing polyacrylonitrile (PAN) with electrospun nanofibers (GNF; 65–125 nm). Transparent films photoluminescence properties introduced physically immobilizing rare‐earth doped aluminate nanoparticles (REAN; 7–13 nm) into composite of GNF@PAN. When irradiated ultraviolet light, the GNF@PAN samples showed change color from transparent green as proved coloration parameters spectra. An emission band was detected at 518 nm upon excitation 365 nm. The morphology photoluminescent hybrids investigated different analytical techniques. scratch resistance significantly enhanced when REAN content increased. With low concentration levels REAN, quickly reversed photochromism signify fluorescence emission. high concentrations via prolonged dark. superhydrophobic blocking increasing phosphor content. displayed an improved hydrophobicity 139.1° 150.8°
