Abstract
Objective
To
evaluate
the
comprehensive
prevalence
of
anxiety
among
postgraduates
and
estimate
its
changes
with
a
meta‐analysis.
Method
Systematic
retrieval
to
SAGE,
ERIC,
EBSCO,
Wiley,
ScienceDirect,
ProQuest,
PubMed,
EMBASE,
Web
Science
database
was
performed
for
quantitative
studies
on
graduate
students
published
before
November
22,
2022.
The
synthesized
random‐effects
model,
subgroup
analysis
conducted
by
study
characteristics
(publication
year,
sampling
method,
measurements)
subjects’
(gender,
region,
educational
level).
Result
Fifty
were
included
in
meta‐analysis,
totaling
39,668
students.
result
revealed
that
34.8%
graduates
suffered
from
(95%
CI:
29.5%–40.5%).
Specifically,
19.1%

mild
anxiety,

Abstract
Postgraduate
research
students
(PGRs)
experience
disproportionately
high
levels
of
psychological
distress.
Many
factors
contribute
to
this
poor
mental
wellbeing
and
relate
each
other
in
complex
dynamic
ways.
However,
the
relationship
between
PGRs
their
supervisor(s)
is
known
strongly
affect
former.
This
study
explores
health
with
a
focus
on
role
student—supervisor
relationship.
Using
combined
qualitative
data
from
large
survey
groups
reflexive
thematic
analysis,
we
found
that
overarching
process
obtaining
degree
as
labyrinth.
Three
constituent
themes
were
identified:
(1)
inequity
navigating
labyrinth,
(2)
labyrinth
place
uncertainty
isolation,
(3)
supervisors
guides,
not
care
providers.
The
results
suggest
significant
inequities
exist
which
poorer

subgroups

Background
Anxiety
disorders
have
emerged
as
one
of
the
most
prevalent
mental
health
problems
and
concerns.
However,
previous
research
has
paid
limited
attention
to
measuring
public
anxiety
from
a
broader
perspective.

we
know
many
factors
that
influence
disorders,
still
an
incomplete
understanding

these
affect
anxiety.

High
rates
of
irreproducibility
and
poor
mental
health
in
graduate
students
have
been
reported
the
biomedical
sciences
past
ten
years,
but
to
date,
little
research
has
investigated
whether
these
two
trends
interact.
In
this
study,
we
ask
experience
failing
replicate
an
expected
finding
impacts
students’
health.
Using
online
survey
paired
with
semi-structured
qualitative
interviews,
examined
how
often
science
doctoral
at
a
large
American
public
university
experienced
events
that
could
be
interpreted
as
failures
they
responded
experiences.
We
found
almost
all
participants
had
irreproducibility:
84%
failed
their
own
results,
70%
colleague’s
finding,
58%
result
from
published
literature.
Participants
feelings
self-doubt,
frustration,
depression
while
experiencing
irreproducibility,
24%
cases,
emotional
responses
were
strong
enough
interfere
participants’
eating,
sleeping,
or
ability
work.
A
majority
(82%)
initially
believed
anomalous
results
attributed
error.
However,
after
further
experimentation,
most
concluded
original
was
wrong
(38%),
there
key
difference
between
experiment
(17%),
problem
protocol
(17%).
These
suggest
may
biased
towards
interpreting
indicative
lack
skill,
which
trigger
perpetuate
anxiety,
depression,
impostorism.
