Abstract Background Gaming behavior can induce cerebral changes that may be related to the neurobiological features of gaming disorder (GD). Additionally, individuals with higher levels depression or impulsivity are more likely experience GD. Therefore, present pilot study explored potential correlates GD in context and impulsivity, after accounting for video behavior. Methods Using resting‐state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), a cross‐sectional was conducted 35 highly involved male adult gamers examine associations between severity regional homogeneity (ReHo) entire brain. A mediation model used test role ReHo possible links depression/impulsivity severity. Results Individuals greater showed increased right Heschl's gyrus decreased hippocampus (rHip). Furthermore, were negatively correlated rHip, respectively. More importantly, rHip found mediate Conclusions These preliminary findings suggest is brain regions associated learning/memory/mood auditory function. Higher potentiate through activity hippocampus. Our advance our understanding differences behind symptoms gamers.
