Effective management of recyclable plastic waste is critical for environmental sustainability and economic viability. Blockchain technology has transformative potential in addressing the challenges management. Currently, inefficiency recycling systems results low rates significant impacts due to poor sorting, contamination, limited application. However, innovations such as chemical recycling, solvent-based techniques, biotechnology offer promising advances waste. provides a transparent, decentralized ledger that enhances traceability incentives through smart contracts, applications (DApps), digital watermarks. These blockchain solutions can improve tracking, automate payments, reward participants who recycle responsibly. Although investment education required, integrating with Internet Things (IoT) artificial intelligence (AI)-driven analytics could revolutionize by creating efficient, collaborative ecosystems. immense redefine promote sustainable, circular economy.

Firms' circular sourcing strategies are essential for the transition to a economy as they enhance circularity both within individual firms and across industries. A key barrier implementation of such is that many approaches still offer static perspective on resource use without addressing its evolutionary characteristics dynamic interdependencies over time. Based assumption companies' strategic procurement decisions recyclate markets show temporal patterns depending development these ("marketness"), dynamics in complex cause-and-effect structures analysed longitudinally with help causal loop diagrams. Employing comparative case-study design example German frontrunners recycled plastics, paper addresses three at various stages development, ranging from emerging market recovered plastic litter, through developing mixed post-consumer packaging waste, towards well-established deposit bottles. The results reveal ideal-typical longitudinal company leaders' strong commitment sustainability, facilitated by flexible organisational structures, significant investment product sound supplier relationship management brand building sway consumer preferences products, indicating market-shaping activities long-term shifts transitions. By understanding their stage markets, study sheds light potential governance measures scale-up plastics economy. It concludes overall point steady firms' rapid growth application, involving challenges call carefully targeted regulatory policies.

Abstract Recent scholarship has advocated a conceptual investigation of rebound effect theory in the circular economy (CE) context. While available body knowledge on (CER) is rather scant, this forum article proposes view existing CER approaches. Our analysis reveals that literature largely bypassed an appreciation how firm behavior embedded and canalized by governance arrangements. This contributes to reconceptualizing challenges mitigating CERs. It re‐focus debate toward: (i) innovation need functional collective commitments for CE address free‐rider‐problems; (ii) criticality effective management decoupling through innovative governance; (iii) critical reflection calls degrowth “non‐optimization” behavior; (iv) recognition optimization frameworks as complementary than substitute approaches facilitating mitigation.

ABSTRACT The ongoing debate in corporate sustainability (CS) about the moral case versus business has recently made its way into circular economy ( CE ) discourse, bringing with it new tradeoffs. Although perspective emphasizes profitability, critics argue that must go beyond profit motives and include environmental social goals. Despite growing importance of this debate, a detailed analysis comparing tradeoffs between cases within context been largely bypassed literature. This article aims to bridge gap by exploring contrasts these highlighting co‐evolutionary relationship them transition. Our contributions are threefold: (1) We many perceived limitations contemporary arise from viewing as statically inevitable rather than dynamically resolvable. (2) conceptualize cases, suggesting over time, innovative governance, elements can be transformed cases. (3) propose definition for (i.e., cases) contending motive inherent can, through aligned circularity societal well‐being.
