entrepreneurship
in

sustainable

Kazakhstan,

traditionally

resource-intensive
economic

Firms'
circular
sourcing
strategies
are
essential
for
the
transition
to
a

circularity

Abstract
Recent
scholarship
has
advocated
a
conceptual
investigation
of
rebound
effect
theory
in
the
circular
economy
(CE)
context.
While
available
body
knowledge
on
(CER)
is
rather
scant,
this
forum
article
proposes
view
existing
CER
approaches.
Our
analysis
reveals
that
literature
largely
bypassed
an
appreciation
how
firm
behavior
embedded
and
canalized
by
governance
arrangements.
This
contributes
to
reconceptualizing
challenges
mitigating
CERs.
It
re‐focus
debate
toward:
(i)
innovation
need
functional
collective
commitments
for
CE
address
free‐rider‐problems;
(ii)
criticality

management
decoupling
through
innovative
governance;
(iii)
critical
reflection

ABSTRACT
The
ongoing
debate
in
corporate
sustainability
(CS)
about
the
moral
case
versus
business
has
recently
made
its
way
into
circular
economy
(
CE
)
discourse,
bringing
with
it
new
tradeoffs.
Although
perspective
emphasizes
profitability,
critics
argue
that
must
go
beyond
profit
motives
and
include
environmental
social
goals.
Despite
growing
importance
of
this
debate,
a
detailed
analysis
comparing
tradeoffs
between
cases
within
context
been
largely
bypassed
literature.
This
article
aims
to
bridge
gap
by
exploring
contrasts
these
highlighting
co‐evolutionary
relationship
them
transition.
Our
contributions
are
threefold:
