ABSTRACT This study investigates the relationship between environmental policy and manufacturing companies' adoption of a circular economy ( CE ). By examining through lens strategies management systems (EMSs), research highlights their correlation with intensity realised practices, positioning them as key antecedents transition. Based on representative sample 1200 firms in Poland's Malopolska region, analysis uses measures association strength, significance testing, residual variable aggregation. Our findings reveal that possessing strategy EMS correlates higher number practices. is also related to minimisation industrial waste energy‐savings. paper provides novel insights into role policies enabling successful principles among small‐ medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs), addressing critical gaps literature, driving sustainable transformation offering actionable for practitioners.

The circular economy can enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to address sustainability challenges facilitate the transition from linear economy. Understanding ecosystem strategies their implications for business model implementation is vital a successful transition. Therefore, we seek answer following research question: How do SMEs’ influence achieve circularity goals? Drawing on multiple case study of 31 SMEs food processing industry, our provides insights into four strategies: visioner, synergizer, explorer, amplifier.
