This review explores the potential health benefits and applications of phenolic secoiridoids derived from olive oil by-products in prevention Alzheimer's disease (AD). As reviewed herein, polyphenols, such as epigallocatechin-3-gallate, epicatechin, resveratrol, show vitro vivo antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective properties, are particularly relevant context AD, a leading cause dementia globally. The industry, Mediterranean region, produces significant amounts waste, including leaves, pomace, wastewater, which pose environmental challenges but also offer an untapped source bioactive compounds. Despite promising studies indicating that olive-derived oleuropein hydroxytyrosol, may mitigate AD pathology, human clinical trials remain limited. variability extraction methods complex nature further complicate research. Future should focus on standardizing protocols conducting robust to fully assess therapeutic these approach not only supports development new treatments for promotes sustainability by valorizing industry waste.

Currently, industrial water pollution represents a significant global challenge, with the potential to adversely impact human health and integrity of ecosystems. The continuous increase in consumption has resulted an exponential rise use dyes, which have become one major pollutants, causing environmental impacts. In order address these concerns, number wastewater treatment methods been developed, particular focus on physicochemical approaches, such as adsorption. objective this study is investigate bio-based material derived from olive oil pomace (OOP) environmentally friendly bio-adsorbent for removal methylene blue (MB), cationic dye commonly found textile effluents. biobased was initially characterized by determining point zero charge (pHpzc) using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Subsequently, comprehensive analysis conducted, evaluating specific parameters MB adsorption, included thorough examination kinetic thermodynamic aspects. adsorption process Langmuir, Freundlich, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), Dubinin Radushkevich (D-R) isotherms. results suggest that equilibrium achieved within ca. 200 min, following pseudo-second-order kinetics. optimal conditions, including adsorbent mass, temperature, bulk pH, concentration, yielded maximum capacity 93% (i.e., 428 mg g−1) concentration 450 L−1. monolayer preferential electrostatic interactions between adsorbent. This supported application BET, D-R isotherm models. indicates spontaneous exothermic. work presents sustainable solution mitigating contamination streams while simultaneously valorizing OOP, agricultural by-product risks environment. conclusion, approach offers innovative ecological alternative synthetic adsorbents.

In the olive oil industry, a pit fraction is collected from pomace and split into clean residual skin-rich fraction, which does not an industrial application. Therefore, in this work, microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) was applied to obtain high-value triterpene acids (maslinic acid oleanolic acid) biomass using renewable solvent ethanol. The response surface methodology used gain deeper understanding of how (ethanol-water, 50-100%

The present study aims to resolve the existing research gaps on olive pomace (OP) hydrochars application as a fuel by evaluating its molecular structures (FTIR and solid NMR analysis), identifying influential characteristics (Pearson correlation process optimization (response surface methodology), slagging–fouling risks (empirical indices), combustion performance (TG-DSC analysis). response surfaces plot for hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) of OP slurry performed in pressure reactor under varied temperatures (180–250 °C) residence times (2–30 min) revealed 250 °C 30 min be optimal conditions producing hydrochar with higher heating value (32.20 MJ·Kg−1) energy densification ratio (1.40). However, terms efficiency cost-effectiveness, HTC highest yield 87.9% were 202.7 2.0 min. structure was mainly comprised aromatic rings methyl groups, alpha-C atoms esters, ether bond linkages lignin fractions. slagging fouling comparatively lower than those raw OP, indicated low indices. Pearson analysis emphasized that enrichment acid-insoluble extractive contents, carbon densification, reduced ash content main pivotal factors exhibit better biofuel applications.
