Abstract Over the last decades, numerous efforts have been made to replace metal catalysts with cheaper and earth‐abundant alternatives or completely exclude metals from cross‐coupling reactions while maintaining high efficiency in target transformation. However, follow‐up studies often revealed role of impurities catalytic process. Thus, active can lead mechanistic misinterpretations, these could initiate erroneous research directives severe reproducibility problems. Milestone precedents impurity effect are well documented literature. Interestingly, this fallacy has reoccurred repeatedly over years due a lack thorough appropriate study schemes for identifying effects. Herein, we propose guideline elucidate real catalyst future transformations, aiming reveal correct mechanism help novel processes. Although mainly focuses on problems related trace transition metals, it also offers basis more general research.

Abstract External magnetic fields emerge as a promising method for enhancing the electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER), yet underlying magneto‐electric (ME) mechanisms are not well understood. The slow kinetics of OER make it key challenge in water‐splitting, technique sustainable H 2 fuel production. Herein, systematic approach is presented to analyzing ME governing OER, using metallic‐plate (Ni foam, Ni sheet, and Pt sheet) powder‐based (Co 3 O 4 /BaFe 12 19 on carbon paper) electrodes. Through controlled experiments varying field strengths orientations, Lorentz force spin‐polarization separated. For metallic electrodes, effects orientation‐dependent, indicating domination by force. Magnetic flux density about electrode surface shown govern behavior. Interestingly, “pseudo” effect discovered which results from relative position reference electrode, highlighting importance experimental design. Co systems display minimal orientation dependence, domination. Introducing BaFe co‐catalyst further amplifies effect, marking first demonstration enhancement magneto‐electrocatalysis. This work provides insights into mechanisms, linking composition, magnetism, geometry performance, offering new pathways optimizing future magneto‐electrocatalytic systems.
